Egyptian Protest in New York City

Protesters marched from Times Square to the Egyptian Embassy on 44th St. and Second Ave. on August 20, 2013

Yesterday, I came across protestors in Times Square rallying against the current regime in Egypt. Raaba/Rabia or R4BIA is four in arabic, and the sign of raising four fingers has become the symbol of the massacre in Egypt during recent anti-coup rallies.

Happy Accident

Sometimes the greatest moments are captured by chance. I had recently been shooting some long exposures with my Fuji X100 on the East River. I handed the Fuji over to my girlfriend, Emily, as I focused on a timelapse I was shooting with my 7D. Not knowing the shutter was set for a 30 second exposure, Emily pointed the camera at the horizon and took this image, and it turned out to be my favorite photo from the evening.

Timelapse: Williamsburg Sunset

Williamsburg Sunset 08-10-2013 from Will OHare on Vimeo.

I had a feeling that yesterday's sunset was going to be spectacular, so I made my way down to the waterfront. While I was making some long exposures with my Fuji X100, I set up my Canon 7D to make a timelapse of the sunset.

Here are a couple of photos as well:

Williamsburg Waterfront Sunset, Fuji X100 (f/16 @ 30s)

Williamsburg Bridge Sunset, Fuji X100 (f/11 @30s)

I still have some great photography deals running this month. Until August 19th, you can book a Standard Headshot Session for only $99. You can find out more information on my website here.

Gwyneth Larsen - Maternity Shoot

Gwyneth Larsen is one of the most remarkable people I know. She's an accomplished aerialist, dancer, choreographer, stunt performer...in general, she just rocks! Last year we had a couple of fantastic shoots (see here and here). Now that she's nearly five months into her pregnancy, Gwyn wants to explore the world of maternity modeling. So, we headed into the streets of Brooklyn, found a quiet side street to take a few shots - and she did a few handstands!

Testing The Canon EOS-M

Macro shot in the Union Square Green Market with the 22mm 2.0 lens.

I've been testing the Canon EOS-M for a couple of weeks, and I will post my review here pretty soon. My initial impression is that it's a handy little camera with fantastic image quality, promising video capabilities, yet it is crippled by its sluggish autofocus and quirky interface. Maybe not ideal as a primary camera, but if you can find one at the current fire sale prices, it might be a worthy point and shoot replacement.
